Monday, August 28 We had our final 18 students today for the first time!!! Yay! So we took many whole class photos. The kiddos smiled for one, made scary faces in another, and then then performed their silliest looks! ADORABLE! We learned some new words in Mandarin and earned some stickers. We started an art project today using paints and rocks. We got the wiggles out with dancing. We read, The Perfect Square, and dictated stories about our own squares. We began our second writing workshop today with another directed drawing. Tuesday, August 29 The kiddos had a great time in Library with Mrs. Clark. They enjoyed listening to her stories and checking out books. We practiced our Letter/Sound songs and movements. When we know them, we will start filming them and putting them on the website! In P.E., the class continued to train for the upcoming ESK Fun Run. They are working on learning to jog slow and steady for endurance. Mrs. Evans calls it "jog slow like a turtle". Tomorrow, we will learn the fable of The Tortoise and the Hare. We continued to work on our self-portraits, and they enjoyed picking out works for their parents to complete. |

Wednesday, August 30 We built a math city by connecting unifix cubes based upon the different number representations on the various cards. They were so proud of their collaboration! The kiddos loved watching the slideshow of their parents working and seeing the finished products! :) Mr. B took the class on a very informative hike. He is a part of the Knoxville Master Gardener program and one of the founding members of ESK. In Art, they listened to a story, The Anywhere Artist, and returned to their multi-medium project. In Spanish, they reviewed colors, and fruit. |

Thursday, August 31 We played outside after Chapel, enjoying the cooler weather. We conducted our first science activity, and the kiddos loved it! They enjoyed the different color patterns that were made after the colored coating dissolved and diffused through the water. They were also impressed by looking at the skittles, after the color was gone, and realizing that the skittles were actually white without their coating. We practiced for the Fun Run in P.E. and continued to work on ball handling skills-this time with a partner. |

Friday, September 1 Mrs. Jenkins tried to be silly and claim our hanging collaborative art as hers! They looked at her like she was crazy!!! :) We enjoyed working together to solve many of our shelf works. In Music, we practiced singing and dancing to many songs! This is a group that loves to dance and sing!! We talked about bio-plasticity and conducted a beginning experiment on the topic. |
