Tuesday, September 5 We played Race to the Top with dice, cups, and cubes. They rolled two dice, added the numbers together, and counted the cubes and placed them in their cup. We introduced lines of symmetry, and practiced on shapes and with pattern blocks. They had a wonderful time in Library with Mrs. Clark as they listened to a felt board story, and then checked out books for the classroom. We enjoyed playing, and catching up after the long weekend! Wednesday, September 6 We had a great time in Art with the amazing artist, Mrs. Mealor! She read a picture book about emotions, and the class created oil pastel art of their "angry faces". The kiddos did a great time with Maestra Rojas in Spanish-reviewing colors! The class went on a wonderfully informative hike with Mr. B. The Kindergarten bees started to beard, and we visited to watch. During different times of the year, the bees in Kindergarten will leave their hive to follow the queen that left. It is an ESK tradition to chase the swarm!! (They don't sting when they are swarming...) |

Thursday, September 7 We learned about some basic classification terminology today: living/ nonliving/ extinct, plant vs. animal, land/air/water. Mrs. Maggie took them on a living/nonliving scavenger hunt around campus. In P.E., the kiddos played a version of PacMan (created in 1980) in which they could only walk on the lines in the gym to try and escape "PacMan". It was hysterical! We were invited to visit the first grade to see the Monarch caterpillars, and the first couple of j-shapes. Friday, September 8 We had fun in Music singing songs and doing activities. We went outside and drew pictures of living and nonliving items. We practiced our letter/sound songs. The kiddos did a great job in the Fun Run, and were definitely worn out after! It was another great week with a bunch of adorable cuties! :) |
