Wednesday, September 13 In Art, the kiddos worked with oil pastels and the AMAZING Mrs. Mealor. In Spanish with Maestra Rojas, they enjoyed learning new vocabulary and playing new activities. Mr. B took them to a ravine on the hike, and they explored the area with enthusiasm! We read some Pigeon and Elephant and Piggie books and learned how Mo Willems uses motion lines to convey emotion in his illustrations. |

Thursday, September 14 Mrs. Maggie surprised the class with a sweet potato, grown in our garden, that looks like a walrus. She has named him Wally. Yes, we are all a little crazy (in a good way) at ESK! :) During her class, Mrs. Maggie took them on a scavenger hunt for living/nonliving things and plants/animals. In P.E., Dr. Sousa subbed for Mrs. Evans and of course brought a lot of singing and dancing to the class. Mrs. Ellison invited us to visit her room and see the different stages of the Monarch caterpillar etc.., Our kiddos were also introduced to her tarantula, jumping spider, and her leopard gecko! We ran out of time to meet all of her animals, but we will visit again! |

Friday, September 15 International Dot Day! Today we celebrated Dot Day. It is a celebration every September 15 based upon a picture book written by Peter H Reynolds, The Dot. It is a charming book about the magic of a little encouragement and the power of original thinking. It is now celebrated in over 200 countries worldwide! Even Nuria, Mrs. Buhl's dog, got into the spirit this year! :) We invited the other JK4 class to join us as we decorated paper plate dots to build a collaboration mural in the hall. Then we decorated and cut out Dot Day hats to wear. After lunch, both 3 year old classrooms came to our room and performed The Dot Song for us. Then we took it outside and decorated the sidewalks with dots for ESK. Kindergarten paraded through the campus with their handmade dogs, and we started to practice our pirate dance. :) |
