Monday, September 25 Today, we enjoyed the weather! Since this is our last week of September, we started a writing workshop about Mo Willem's character, Pigeon. The kiddos had a bunch of creative ideas for their stories! We practiced counting in Mandarin, and sang and danced. We started an investigation with "What is kindness?" Everyone got new jobs for the week, so I took photos so that you would know what their jobs are... Tuesday, September 26 We had a mini Art session with Mrs. Mealor since we missed last Wednesday due to Conferences. We listened to some great stories about Autumn in Library, and checked out books for the classroom. We rotated stations in P.E. that focused on balance, ball handling skills, and hula hoops! She even had a station where they shouldn't fall in the "lava"! So, of course we had to listen to Scratch Garden's Lava song! :) It was a very busy and fun day! :) Wednesday, September 27 We worked on our Pigeon stories. We colored and labeled them-very creative stories. In our usual Art time with Mrs. Mealor, we created sculptures from items in her "messy bucket". In Spanish with Maestra Rojas, the kiddos played a review game based on learned vocabulary. On the hike with Mr.B, the class traversed a grand ravine! :) Thursday, September 28 We played with September's shelf works; next week October's shelf works will replace them. Today, we had our first STEAM activity with Mrs. Fairclough's Second Grade class. The challenge was to use legos, a lego base, and pipe cleaners to make a ring toss. In ATO with Mrs. Maggie, the class identified types of trees based upon their leaves. In P.E. with Mrs. Evans, the class played with scarves. Friday, September 29 Evelyn's Mom visited the class and taught the kiddos about the Autumn Moon Festival. She read a book, shared mooncakes, and helped them make paper lanterns! |
