Monday, October 2 We played with some of the new October shelf works. The kiddos really enjoyed creating Halloween characters with Legos. A math dice game that results in building a skeleton was another popular work. We started reading our first author study of October, Jim Arnosky. His simple nature stories create a tone for the reader. Tuesday, October 3 Today, we were invited to watch Mrs. Jenkins' 3rd graders perform their Tall Tales-very entertaining! We played spaghetti and meatballs in P.E. It was a new game that the kiddos loved! We made sticker characters with some old Halloween stuff I found-good fine motor and fun! Wednesday, October 4 Blessing of the Pets This is always such a fun morning! Everyone gets to catch up with old friends and new. Before Mr. B took everyone on a hike, he shared with them one of his favorite seasonal poems by Jack Prelutsky, The Grobbles. Thursday, October 5 The class continued to enjoy listening to our Jim Arnosky books- so much so that we finished them all in one week! We made a card and sang to Maestra Rojas for her birthday. Part of our year long study on kindness includes celebrating the birthdays of the teachers that work so hard our kiddos. Friday, October 6 We worked on creating a collaborative Haunted House to decorate our room. We continued with our Big Bear brackett and learned about how salmon are so important (keystone species) to the animals in this Alaskan nature preserve. We had a lot of fun singing and dancing in Music with Mrs. Ward. |
