Monday, September 18 The Second Grade visited us to show us their costumes of famous idioms. Mrs. Mealor had "eyes in the back of her head". Mrs. Fairclough was a "smart cookie", and Mr. Cameron was "all ears". We worked on making model Earths! Make sure you cut it open to see the inner Earth. We celebrated Samual's belated birthday in Chapel. We continued with our author study of Mo Willems. The kiddos LOVE how funny his books are. In Mandarin, we practiced vocabulary and songs. Maren practiced an Act of Kindness by bringing in and passing out stickers to everyone! |

Tuesday, September 19 Talk Like a Pirate Day!! Of course, the amazing Pansie Evans conducted a special pirate P.E. for the kiddos, and they LOVED it! After P.E., Father Matt aka Pirate Matt, stole the ESK flag and raised the Jolly Roger!! Our kiddos took on his challenge!! :) We joined the other class on a treasure hunt in the Outdoor Chapel! Argh! The kiddos were invited to decorate their own telescope if they wanted. I filmed their Pirate Dance, and I am currently figuring out how to post it on the website- if I can't I will email the link! |

Thursday, September 21 Friday, September 22 We colored paper flowers to use in a science experiment on capillary action. We discovered that the flowers that were colored on in marker opened faster than the flowers colored on with crayons and colored pencils. We played singing games in Music with Mrs. Ward. We celebrated Jude's birthday (since he was out of town for his birthday). We created "fireworks in a jar" by testing the solubility and density of water, oil, and food coloring. |
